Volunteer Positions – 2012 San Jose 408k
Looking to get involved? The San Jose 408k is looking for punctual, responsible community members who would like to help out with the event. Below are some of our volunteer positions currently available (if under 18 years of age, you must be signed up with and accompanied by an adult).

- Hydration Station Volunteers: Runners get thirsty while out on the course. We need your help setting up, handing out water, and breaking it all down. Great for teams and groups of people. SIGN UP
- Course Monitors: Course Monitors are one of the most important volunteer positions. Your two duties are to encourage all participants as they race to the row, and to make sure they stay on course. You will be stationed at any point along the course, from the streets outside HP Pavilion all the way to the legendary Santana Row. Must be at least 18 years of age. SIGN UP
- Volunteer Check-In: As volunteers begin to show up at the crack of dawn, you are the one to welcome them and make sure they get to the right location. Recommended for morning people! SIGN UP
- 408Kids Race Support: With the help of others, herd the little kiddos into the starting corral and make sure they don’t go the wrong way. SIGN UP
- Gear Check and Return: The race starts in one place and ends in another. We need people to help organize the gear and transport it to the finish line via our race team trucks. SIGN UP
- Transportation Support: With your team of volunteers, make sure all ride-needy runners find the buses and know where to get in line. SIGN UP
- Lead Bikes: Looking for 15 minutes of fame? Steer the lead runners from HP Pavilion to Santana Row. SIGN UP
- Registration/Packet Pickup: Help out during race weekend by registering runners, and passing out their packets on the days leading up to the race. SIGN UP
- Recycling Monitors: Are you a fellow tree hugger? Help us out by pestering runners to recycle necessary items such as plastic bottles. SIGN UP
- Goodie Bag Stuffing: Join our gift pack assembly line and pack those goodies into those bags. SIGN UP
- Information/Lost & Found/Troubleshooting: Are you an information giver and problem solver? We need answers to those tough questions. SIGN UP
- Starting Line Assistance: Help us set up & breakdown the start area, and manage the masses bright and early. Build some muscle for a good cause. SIGN UP
- Finish Line Assistance: Help those satisfied, wobbly finishers find their way to the water and commemorative T-shirts that they so covet. SIGN UP
- T-Shirt/Food Distribution: What is the first thing a race finisher does once they cross the line? Look for the T-shirts and food of course. Be that person trading a smile for a shirt. SIGN UP
- Goodie Bag Distribution: They ran the race – they’ve earned the goodie bag. Help pass them out to race finishers. SIGN UP
- Mile Marker Split Timers: Runners love splits. Bark out their mile splits as they go by. SIGN UP
- Flyer Distribution: Help us continue to build community support by notifying residents of the upcoming San Jose 408k. SIGN UP
