PARKING: The lots around SAP Center will be charging $5 on race day. We suppose everyone is trying to make a buck and we don’t see a dime of that parking money. We do apologize for this unforeseen extra cost and encourage you to take advantage of VTA (more on that below), get dropped off or beat the system and park on the streets. You can also ride your bike and our friend Steven will watch it for you. The last option is to check out these driving directions to open lots:

Access to Parking from the South:

‐         SAP CENTER Lots: If arriving before 7:30am you will be able to access the pavilion lots from the south via Autumn St., left on W. Santa Clara St. and right into main lots

OR

‐         Before or after 7:30am you can utilize the lots on Delmas St. off of San Fernando

OR

‐         Take the Julian St. exit off of 87. (W. Santa Clara St. exit will force you to turn right).  At Julian, an SJPD officer will be there to quickly get you through the light off the freeway, you’ll make a left onto Julian and a left onto N. Montgomery where you will enter the SAP Center lot from the north entrance.

Access to Parking from the North:

‐         Take the Julian St. exit off of 87. Make a right on Julian, a left on N. Montgomery and head right into the SAP Center lot from the north entrance.

VTA Options: This bus rules, take it. Don’t know which route can get you to and from the Start & Finish Line? VTA makes it easy with their route searches and maps.

VTA

RUNNER DROP OFF: We have created a runner drop-off curb at the corner of St. John & Autumn St. You can get dropped off and your mom can beat you to Santana Row for the dramatic finish and maybe a little breakfast.

UPS SWEAT CHECK: The fine folks in brown will again be at the starting line to accept your sweats, gear, and unmentionables. Ensure you have time to check your goods, so show up early and look for the beautiful line of UPS trucks lined up BEHIND the starting line, under the 87 Freeway. Same as last year.

Then guess what? They drive it straight to the finish festival at Santana Row. Then guess what? You pick it up or we get a new sweat suit. Thanks UPS for making our lives easier.

START: The race starts at 8am (sharp!) at the corner of Santa Clara St & Autumn St next to the SAP Center in Downtown San Jose. If you don’t know where this is then just google it. You’re likely from the greater Silicon Valley area and you should know all about the google. It’s a really cool website.

Follow parking instructions; drop off your sweats, use one of the 40 portos, and put yourself into the proper runner corral. More on that here.

Start Line Corrals: Due to the increased size of the 408k, we will be breaking the start into three corrals based on the times given at registration.

8:00am CORRAL A: Bib Numbers 1-1750 (Your numbers will be Teal and you’ll have a black “A” in the bottom right hand corner. You guessed it “A” stands for Corral A.

8:05am CORRAL B: Bib Numbers 1751-3500 (Your numbers will be in Black and you’ll have a teal “B” in the right hand corner. Yah.

8:10am CORRAL C: Bib Numbers 3501-5350 (Your numbers will be in Orange and you’ll have an orange “C”…in the left hand corner. Just kidding it will be in the right hand corner like everyone else. Gotcha.

Enjoy the Corral that you have been assigned because you might meet your soul mate.

COURSE TIME LIMIT: While all levels of runners and walkers are welcome at the 408k they will need to maintain an 18 min mile pace to make the cut‐off. At 9:40am Stevens Crk Blvd will be re-opened, runners & walkers will be asked to use the sidewalk, abide by traffic laws, and continue to the finish line which will be open until 9:55am.

FINISH: The finish line is at Santana Row (We’ve mentioned that multiple times because we view as a bit of a selling point. It’s near Stevens Creek Blvd…again try the google)

POST-RACE: “I survived the 3rd Annual 408k, what did I win?” At the completion of your race, all San Jose 408kers will receive a Finishers Medal & Goodie Bag… and trust us, don’t pack a lunch. We’ll have sponsors & vendors to fill you up in our Finisher’s Festival. Plus, we’ve heard there’s a rumor going around that Santana Row has a few tasty restaurants on-site. This year we’re pleading with restaurant managers to open early for you.

Official After-Party Rosie McCann’s: After the race stop by Rosie’s for adult libations aka booze. Live DJ, food and drink specials.

(Pick Up you shirt at the Pre-race EXPO at packet pickup)… For more info on packet pickup, please visit http://www.the408k.com/race-info/packet-pickup/

BUSING: You’re probably wondering, “if it starts downtown and ends at Santana Row then how do I get home?” First off, nice work detective. Now, three options:

(1) Get dropped off at the start and tell your mom to meet you at the Row.!

(2) Cool down and run back!

(3) Party at Santana Row and take the free shuttles buses back to the pavilion. Our Official Transportation Provider, Royal Coach Tours, will be ready to roll after the race.

Royal Coach Tours

Your bib is your ticket back onto the bus. Buses will start running at about 9:00am across the street from Santana Row near Winchester Mystery House and the theatres (on Olin St). Buses will run when they’re full, but don’t feel like you need to rush out, we’ll have them running until 1pm. Get brunch, hit up an after party (think Rosie McCann’s or Left Bank), or buy some $700 shoes.

And lastly have some fun.

Sincerely,

The 408krew
